Why it matters

Running a draw without a licence is a criminal risk, not a paperwork risk

Section 8 of the Gambling Act B.E. 2478 requires approval before any prize draw is offered to the public.

What the law requires

Any activity where prizes are awarded by chance must be licensed by the authorised officer before it begins. Running one without approval carries penalties and prizes can be seized. We check whether your mechanic falls inside that definition before anything is published — and we will tell you plainly if it does not need a licence at all.

How it works

Five steps from mechanic to closing report

Start at least 45 days before you plan to advertise. The filing timeline is not something we can compress.

We look at how winners are chosen, what the prizes are and what they are worth in total, then tell you whether the campaign needs a licence and what has to change to pass.

Prepare the filing

We assemble the full document set, including the forms, the official rules, the prize schedule and your company paperwork.

STEP 03

File and follow up

We submit to the Department of Provincial Administration and stay on it until the licence number is issued, handling any amendments officials ask for.

STEP 04

Run the draw

On the day, the draw follows exactly the method written in the licence, in front of the authorised officer, with every step recorded.

STEP 05

Deliver and close

Prizes reach the winners with signed handover evidence, and the closing report is filed within the statutory deadline.

What clients ask before starting

Does my campaign need a permit at all?
If entrants have a chance of winning based on luck rather than skill, it is a sweepstake under Thai law and needs approval before you advertise it. Pure skill contests judged on merit are treated differently. Send us the mechanic and we will tell you which category you fall into, at no charge.
How long does approval take?
Plan on 30 to 45 days from a complete filing. The clock only starts when the document set is complete, so incomplete paperwork is what usually causes delays, not the officials. Start at least 45 days before you want to publish anything.
What happens if we run without a permit?
Unlicensed gambling activity carries penalties under the Gambling Act B.E. 2478, and prizes can be seized. It also creates a public relations problem that outlasts the campaign. This is the main reason brands bring us in.
What documents do you need from us?
Company registration certificate no older than six months, a copy of the authorised director's ID, a power of attorney if we file on your behalf, the campaign mechanic and prize list, and sample advertising material.
Do you also run the draw itself?
Yes. The draw must follow the method stated in the licence and be conducted in front of the authorised officer. We handle the event, the randomisation system, and the evidence recorded at every step.
What about tax on the prizes?
Sweepstake prizes are subject to withholding tax at the rate set by law, and the organiser is responsible for remitting it. We calculate it, issue the withholding certificates and keep the records — but have your accounting team confirm before each campaign.
What if a winner can't be contacted?
We contact them the agreed number of times through the agreed channels and log every attempt as evidence. If the published deadline passes, we follow whatever your rules and licence state — which is why that clause needs writing carefully at the design stage.
